Summer Weeks Photography | Bahrain's Premier Family Photographer bio picture
  • Welcome!

Welcome and thank you for stopping by my blog. My name is Summer Ameen and I am a mom of two, and a photographer and filmmaker who loves art in all forms, movies, 80s tunes, and the people who make my world complete. I'm inspired by music, travel,  and the sense of wonder and adventure that children possess. It's quite infectious! I founded Summer Weeks Photography in the summer of 2009 and have been capturing timeless memories for families in Bahrain and the GCC ever since.

What I can do for you...

I know what it's like wishing you had a magical time capsule so you'll keep these moments alive forever. While I can't say I possess such a gadget, the closest thing I have to that magic capsule is photography!

I believe that each person is wonderfully unique whether they're an adult, a baby or a child, and that photographs should celebrate their individuality, with their personality traits shining through. I keep our sessions fun, relaxed and always safe.

My aim is to go beyond clicking the shutter button; to really look and see the people I'm photographing and capture the beauty in their souls. In addition, I place a high value on quality when it comes to photography. I have thoroughly studied light, camera, and emotion so that I can consistently create images that are of a high standard. Children move very fast and can have quick-changing moods, so you need a professional with a great deal of experience with both photography and children to catch the sometimes split seconds of magic that take place. I often get happy messages from moms after they see the pictures from our session saying things along the lines of "when did this smile happen?" and "I can't believe we have a picture of her laughing like that!" My job is to not only see but also capture those lovely moments!

If it's your first pregnancy or your first baby, know that I have photographed hundreds of mamas to be and little newborns and that you are in good hands. If you'd love to have your family photographed but are concerned about how your baby or child will behave, bring them over to me and leave your worries at the door. We will capture something special and real about your child and family on the day of your session, and it will be beautiful.

Pastel Summer in Bahrain | Bahrain Family Photographer

Summertime fun with the M family! I photographed their youngest daughter when she was a newborn, and it was so nice to see the little toddler she’s grown into at 1 year.

And then it was time for the beach…

Little Angel | Bahrain Newborn Photographer

This little one’s mama had let me know during her last trimester that she wanted to have newborn photographs done, and she contacted me on the very day she was born to schedule the photo session! So honored to meet this family at such a special time in their lives, with baby A. being an itty bitty 5 days old in this photo session.

Published in Professional Photographer Magazine! | Photographer in Bahrain

Professional Photographer is an American photography magazine that is distributed internationally. I have been subscribed to it for many many years, so I was excited when they contacted me for an interview on the techniques I used to achieve my awarded photograph “August Flush”.  It is featured in the Folio section of the September 2013 issue! For those interested in lighting and editing, check out my tips on how it was done and the gear I used.

And this is just a sample of the Professional Photographer magazine collection on my bookcase…. yup, been a big fan for a while!

Professional Photographer Magazine is available in print publications as well as online subscriptions. Check it out.

Awards and a Feature! | Photographer in Bahrain

So here is something a little bit different than my usual children’s photography posts – an article in Gulf Weekly about my award winning images at the Professional Photographers of America’s International Competition 2013. Full article online.

As a further honor, my images have been chosen to be published in the esteemed Loan Collection book which features the select best from the competition winners. Happy to have my photography featured in this amazing collection two years in a row!

Special thanks to the lovely Immy who was brave enough to get into a tub of milk with the mere assurance that it would “look really cool”, and was patient enough to endure the many takes we did. Also many thanks to the beautiful Elise and my amazingly talented team, Sarah Samieiy and Sara Mazzola.
